Taking it to a New Level

The insurgency is taking their fight to a new level, probably sponsored in part by the Iranians who are trying to tie down GWBs swords in Iraq to stop the rattling. So, who's really making things worse over here? The people that want to get us out of here and back to the states, or the people that want to get us out of Iraq and move us straight to Iran?

This is the kind of brazen attack you see from well funded, well trained, clandestine miltary units, much like the US Special Forces. No, half-assed Al Qaeda insurgent could have pulled this off. They abducted 4 soldiers threw them in the back of a truck and drove off with them to execute them later. First of all these soldiers let their guard down and were caught by surprise, hopefully it's a lesson learned. I know, having done Personal Security, for the types of people who do these BILATs that this had to be a breakdown in military bearing and security. That said, it was a clever trick that could exploit even the smallest crack in a security detail like that. The fact that they did a tactical entry on a building, took prisoners, and killed 5 American soldiers, and spoke English, shows these guys were well trained. It would be hard to do dynamic entry into a building with Americans and be able to retreat alive, but to go in shoot them and come out, with prisoners shows they have training.

I recently saw a video captured from a bunch of dead insurgents that shows them assaulting an OP. Most of this video is a recording of the insurgents doing a rehearsal and a rock drill of the assault. Professional military training. Not to mention these guys conducting the assault, from what I could tell, were Persian not Arab. The video ends with them assaulting the OP, most of them dying and the rest being taken prisoner.

This professional military assault is probably why they gave us permission to shoot Iranians. This proclamation is completely bullshit, and is nothing but a political/foreign relations proclamation. First, we don't stop to ask the people that are exhibiting hostile intent towards us or other Coalition forces, whether it be planting IEDs or busting into buildings where we are having meetings and shooting us, whether they're Persian or Arab, Iraqi or Iranian, Sunni or Shia. We just shoot them. Second, we've been killing or taking prisoner anyone who is or might be actively plotting against our efforts here in Iraq. Nothing new. It's sort of the same mission we've had for 4 and half years.

Just having Army uniforms shouldn't have gotten that far anyways. Maybe past an IP checkpoint, but through American security that should have been on the outside of that building no fucking way. There is something wrong here. The unit conducting this meeting would have been here long enough to know who operates in their AO especially concerning the mission at a JCC. This just shouldn't have happened. And the more I think about the more impossible I think it would be.

Hi ya buddy. I was wondering what you thought about this particular OP and what info they told you.Since you and I know who perped 911 it is always a fair question to ask what entity was behind such an attack. The USS Liberty also comes to mind when I think of such things. The presence of Mossad training the Kurds in the North is a proven fact. In addition as you are aware, the Kurds are the most reliable among our "Allies" and perform quite well. The Mossad has played every role in the past, so maybe "Kurds"?

But, let's pretend it is the Iranians. Taken from their position one can understand why they would attack. The SAS supported bombings in So. Iran. The kidnapping of Iranian diplomats from their mission. The fact that they have U.S. forces on both sides of their border. The continued public threats from the Bush Regime. All that and the long history of U.S. aggression towards Iran(including by proxy through the Shah)and other Nations(millions dead since WWII), it would be expected that the Iranians would retaliate in someway.

Someway that would be quite effective and promote distrust among American "friendlies". The attack you mention would do just that. They would also target higher profile targets. The downing of the helo with all that Brass comes to mind.

The Bush Regime will try to heighten the tensions everywhere in the ME so as to get away with even more crap. They must widen the War to keep power.

On the home front, Lil Joe and I, along with a bunch of friends went down to DC yesterday to protest the War and try to bring you all Home. Rep Maxine Waters, Rep. John Conyers and another Congressman came too. It was a great mix of people.Including over 50 Iraq War Vets. A report with pics is to found at my place. This Monday delegations from various groups and individuals themselves will visit with their perspective Reps. to lobby the cause. Wednesday, the Judiciary Committee chaired by Rep. Conyers will begin investigating the over 600 "Signing Statements" by Bush precluding him from the Law of the Land.
The Libby trial is revealing Cheney to be the one behind the outing of the CIA agent.

These efforts may seem feeble to where you are, but compared to a year ago, they seem to me momentous.

Just stay alive and survive. Just remember, there are people here who do care, are not transfixed watching "24" and are doing everything we can think of to end the carnage.

The next Demo is March 17th at the Pentagon. I really don't think that is a proper place for protest, but seeing that the Flags who were steeped in reality have been replaced with Bush yesmen, I'll come down and lend my support.

Peace.

Marcus, remember the US trains thousands of Iraqi's who are actually militia members from both Sadr brigade and Madhi Army members, and probably even trains a few in advanced tactics, for an Iraqi special forces units, a few of them could be in it just for the advanced training which they will use against the US. It has been 4 years, that we have been there, and three we have been training Iraqis in one form or another, that would mean a hell of a lot of people have been given training, let alone what Saddam did before we invaded. just thoughts for alternate ideas of who and where they training came from.
